Wheelchair basketball is one of the more popular adaptive sports in the United States of America. However, some Americans don’t seem to understand why the sport exist or why some individuals who have disabilities play it. What’s worse is that these same Americans still look at people who have disabilities as disabled or handicapped or even “slow.” The purpose of this site is to explain the reason(s) why people with disabilities play wheelchair basketball, while also explain the rules of the sport.
I am a senior at William Peace University. I am majoring in English and minoring in Communication. I have been playing wheelchair basketball since the summer of 2007, and I currently play for the Raleigh Triangle Thunder wheelchair basketball team.
